Hatha, translates from Indian Sankscritt to 'force'.
Hatha yoga is a foundational style of yoga, from which other more dynamic yoga practices, like Vinyasa and Ashtanga are developed.
In Hatha yoga we use the breath, asana (postures) and meditation practices to bring the body into alignment. Balancing opposing forces: the Sun (Ha) and the Moon (Tha).
Your body works really hard to do everything it needs to do to keep you alive. We inhale, the lungs fill, the oxygen gets used to create energy to pump the heart, which takes fresh blood to our kidneys and liver that filter our waste....you get the picture.
Often we don't give it a moments thought until something goes wrong.
But what if you can support these functions, support your digestion, increase the amount of oxygen in your blood, reduce tension and stress so that your body can work more efficiently, and reduce dis-ease in the body. Creating more balance. A holistic tool for wellness.
That's what yoga does.
Moving slowly, breathing with awareness to lower blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, improve digestive function.
Plus all the benefits of being with people from your community, sharing the energy and supporting each other.
